St. Patrick's Day in Nagoya

Nothing speaks to internationalism more than the popularity of St. Patrick's Day throughout the world. For one day each year on March 17th, every foreigner feels the need to don some green clothing and suck back a few pints of green beer.

In Nagoya there is a group of people who work hard each year to bring a little of this Irish holiday to the masses by organizing a St. Patrick's Day parade followed appropriately by excessive drinking and celebration.

For those that don't know, St. Patrick's Day is the national holiday of Ireland. It is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland and Montserrat. In Canada, Great Britain, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, it is widely celebrated but is not an official holiday.

This year the parade is on Saturday, March 21st beginning in the Osu Kannon district of Nagoya. If you are looking for something fun to do on Saturday and want to join the fun, visit www.stpatricksnagoya.com for information.
